Look Where You Are Going!

The last 8 weeks of my life have been fraught with many ups and downs.  When you are experiencing that kind of tumult it’s easy to only look at the lows.  Low points tend to color our view of life, even more than high points.  I think it is human nature to remember the insult, injury, and pain above the smile, blessing,

3 John 1:3

It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it.

I have lost 2 dear friends and 2 family members in two short months.  The pace of these deaths has left me on shaky ground.  In a normal scenario, a person dies, and the grieving family members have time to reflect on the event and the life that was lived without having to rush into the next tragedy. The only feeling I have left is numbness.  That being said, I am not in despair.  I have been surrounded by loving family members, friends, and church members who have been praying for me, and encouraging me throughout my ordeal.

I can testify to the words of the apostle John in his third book. I has given me great joy when the believers came to me and testified.  They have indeed been faithful to the TRUTH.  Please allow me so share the things that I have been reminded of by my friends. I have been reminded of God’s presence in the storm, I have been assured of the reality of heaven, I have been directed to look at the faithful lives of the people that I have lost and the impact those lives had on my own. I have been reminded that others care, and that a smile, a handshake, and a pat on the back communicates love and concern.  All of these expressions of kindness and thoughtfulness have done much to keep me going and point me forward.

For the Christian, there are struggles, there is pain, there are setbacks, there is great loss, but there is also HOPE.   The Bible says it is a hope that does not disappoint.  I have found that to be utterly true.  Maybe you are reading this and in your storm, you don’t sense this hope.  Maybe you feel the exact opposite.  The hope in Jesus begins with an introduction and a relationship.  If you haven’t been introduced to Jesus, you can’t know the peace and comfort He gives.  If you aren’t in relationship to Him you don’t have a connection to His Father.  For we are in Christ just as Christ Is in God.

This is the beginning of the Christmas Season.  As you scurry to find the perfect gift for a loved one, don’t neglect to receive the perfect Gift of God, His Son, Jesus Christ.

Blessings,

Marty
