Psalm 15

1 Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?

2 The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,

who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;

4 who despises a vile person
but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,

and does not change their mind;
5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

Whoever does these things
will never be shaken.

We live in a funny (shall I say, Interesting?) time. There are many ways to illustrate this, but for arguments sake, let’s say you aren’t feeling well, and you go to the Dr. After a thorough exam, the Dr. takes note of your symptoms and prescribes medication. Chances are the medicine is not for your problem but merely for your symptoms. Oftentimes, making you feel better is the goal because there is no cure for what ails you. For example, there is no cure for the common cold, but they treat the symptoms. There is currently no cure diabetes but there is medication to help stabilize blood sugar levels. There is no cure for high blood pressure or clogged arteries, but they can thin the blood and treat the symptoms. Many of the things for which we seek medical help we are given medication to relieve our symptoms.

How many of those same diseases do have a cure, but it usually entails doing things we loathe such as lose weight or drastically change our lifestyle. The truth is we would much rather take a pill than hear the hard truth about lifestyle change. Where would the medical profession be if Drs. told us that we would die if we didn’t lose weight, or stop eating bar b cue or chips or McDonald’s etc. I’m sure that their revenues would drop drastically as would the pharmaceutical companies.

A little white lie can’t kill you especially if the Dr. says it, right? The Bible is clear about the kind of speech God’s people need to have. Jesus said, “You lie and do not speak the truth because you are of your father the devil. He is the father of lies and the truth is not in him.” There is not one problem we face that a fierce adherence to the truth wouldn’t heal and cure.

The 10 Commandments say, “Do not Kill”: Abortion goes out the window

The 10 Commandments say, “Do not covet”: Greed and avarice depart

The 10 Commandments say, “Do not steal”: We become content and there is enough for all.

God Will Bless America When America repents.
